The Department of Biomedicine is one of 9 Departments of the Faculty of Medicine. The departments of the Faculty of Medicine are governed by the Dean of the Faculty, the Director of Hospital (in the case of clinical units) and by the “Steering Committee Medicine” (SAM), which is composed of one representative from the Department of Health and Economics of Basel-Landschaft, one representative of the Department of Health of Basel Stadt, and two representatives of the Council of the University. In addition, prior to approval by the SAM, all propositions and petitions are discussed in the “Coordination Committee Medicine” (KOG), composed of representatives of the Rectorate of the University.
