Data Management Plan
Good practice in research data management has become a requirement for funding programs of most granting agencies. Project proposals should contain a section on data management that summarizes how the data will be handled during the project. The main purpose of the Data Management Plan (DMP) is to help individual researchers and research institutes to manage their data effectively, reduce the risk of data loss, and allow data exchange and re-use. A typical DMP covers the following topics:
- Data collection and organization
- Data exchange and re-use
- Data storage and long-term archive
- Potential ethical, legal or security issues
