On August 22, 2025, the DBM community gathered at Altes Kraftwerk to mark this milestone. Researchers, clinicians, administrative members, and students came together for an evening that reflected the department’s collaborative spirit and culture of innovation.

The celebration opened with live jazz by The Slick Notes and a warm welcome address by DBM Chair Ivan Martin, who admired the initial vision behind the establishment of the DBM, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the DBM community, and encouraged to keep a sustained enthusiasm for being part of its scientific endeavours. Guests enjoyed culinary highlights, including seasonal specialties from show-cooking stations, as well as a surprise performance by the renowned Swiss duo 'ohne Rolf. During the evening, a photo bus captured candid moments of joy and connection. As night fell, DJ Putney brought everyone to the dance floor, rounding out the evening in a lively and memorable way.

As a key pillar of Basel’s vibrant life sciences ecosystem — one of Europe’s strongest — the DBM has continuously developed over the past 25 years, playing a vital role in fostering scientific innovation, training the next generation of scientists, and bridging academia, healthcare, and industry.
