Congratulations to Lucas Boeck for being awarded a Cloëtta Medical Research Position!

PD Dr. med. Lucas Boeck, a Research Group Leader specializing in Pulmonary Infection Biology, has been granted a prestigious scholarship for a five-year research position. This remarkable recognition comes from the Prof. Dr. Max Cloëtta Foundation, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to the field.

His main research area are chronic respiratory infections, which are often challenging and sometimes impossible to clear. He is particularly interested in bacterial behaviours and their molecular mechanisms underlying antibiotic treatment failures. His team has recently developed methods which allow them to study previously unrecognized characteristics of bacterial survival. By combining clinical studies, novel experimental technologies and computational biology he aims to understand bacteria and find new ways to treat infections effectively.

The Prof. Dr. Max Cloëtta Foundation finances medical research positions at Swiss universities, clinics and institutes. The Cloëtta positions for medical research are intended for fully trained and independently working researchers, especially if they are suitable for positions to be created later or that become vacant. By creating long-term research positions, the Prof. Dr. Max Cloëtta Foundation aims to promote the careers of young researchers in Switzerland.
