In a collaborative effort scientists from the DBM (Martin, Skoda and Lengerke labs) and from ETH Zürich (Schroeder lab at D-BSSE) have engineered an artificial bone marrow niche.

The study was supported by the StemSysMed SystemsX grant (link) and was published recently in PNAS. The findings open up new possibilities from basic research on blood formation in humans to the development of diagnostic tools for personalised treatment.
