Portrait Mascha Binder

Prof. Dr. Mascha Binder`s research interests are focused on advancing the field of immunotherapy for solid tumors with a clear translational aim by testing compounds, treatment strategies, and biomarkers inspired by her own preclinical studies. To support these efforts, she has established a "home-brew" next-generation sequencing platform for immune repertoire analysis, which has been instrumental in many of her biomarker-driven trials. This adaptive sequencing platform and living immune repository are available for collaborative research within the DBM and the broader scientific community, not just limited to the cancer context, but also in areas such as autoimmunity or infection biology.

Additionally, she has a strong interest in lymphocytes that turned “rogue” leading to malignant lymphoproliferation. Her work has contributed to the discovery that chronic antigen stimulation via the pathological antigen receptor decisively impacts the development and maintenance of a variety of non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Her ultimate goal is to translate these insights into new therapies that target the antigen receptor and its pathway with a focus on precision cell therapies.
