Welcome to the Team – Stephanie Gros Lab!

.

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Stephanie Gros as an associated research group leader at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel.

Her lab is located at the University Children`s Hospital UKBB. Her research lies at the intersection of developmental biology, translational medicine, and pediatric surgery, with a focus on understanding and improving the treatment of pediatric tumors and congenital diseases.

The group investigates pediatric solid tumors, particularly neuroblastoma, using 3D culture systems and organoid models to study tumor development, differentiation, therapy response, immune interactions, and tumor dynamics. In parallel, the lab explores the molecular mechanisms and prenatal environmental exposures underlying congenital diseases through advanced 3D organoid models, multi-omics approaches, and clinical studies.

A central aim of the group is to translate molecular and clinical insights into innovative therapeutic and surgical strategies for children with rare and complex diseases. This includes the development of novel cell therapy approaches and testing platforms, image-based risk assessment models, and 3D reconstruction techniques to improve surgical planning and patient outcomes.

We are very pleased to welcome Stephanie to the broader DBM community and look forward to the innovative research and collaborations her group will bring to our environment.
